KCKC's Training Class Schedule

Register early to get the class of your choice.

Please check the Announcements page for weather-related announcements and/or important training class information.


All classes are eight week classes, except Advanced Agility which does not meet on the third Tuesday of each month.

Puppy Head Start   Four week class beginning Thursday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 pm.  Follow directions at the bottom of this page to register.

New Flyball Class  Begins Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9:00 am.  Follow directions at the bottom of this page to register. For more information contact: stack.attack@live.com

Introduction to Agility

This is the agility foundation class for dogs & handlers new to agility.
Dogs & handlers are evaluated prior to acceptance into this class.  Please contact us at keycitykennelclub@hotmail.com to schedule this evaluation and/or get on our waiting list for this class as it fills quickly.

Obstacle Familiarization This is the second level of our agility program where dogs and handlers are introduced to and practice correct execution of the agility course obstacles.  The beginnings of handling and sequencing are also incorporated into this class

Handling & Sequencing

 
Dogs who have completed Intro and Obstacle Familiarization.  Class will focus in mechanics of handling with small obstacle or jumping sets, not full courses.

Level II class for Basic graduates.  This class works on perfecting the skills learned in Basic. Dogs should be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test after successful completion of this class

This class is a mixed level class that works on skills needed for dog handler teams interested in further training and/or obedience and Rally  trial competition.

Please check the Announcement page for any changes on dates of Rally course run-thrus.   Run-thrus allow you and your dog to practice actual courses found at Rally trials. Dogs should have the equivalent of our Basic and Practical obedience classes to develop skills needed for Rally competition.

5:30 pm Puppy Headstart
Class limited to 8 pre-registered puppies.
A four week class of supervised, educational playtime  using positive training methods following the teaching of Dr. Ian Dunbar. Puppies should be 10-12 weeks to start this class and no more than 18 weeks (or instructor approval of age) when the class ends. Puppies may also be registered for Basic Obedience.

This class works on skills needed for dog handler teams interested in obedience/Rally trial competition.

For dogs preparing for Open and/or Utility Obedience competition.

9:00 a.m. Flyball Handlers learn the mechanics involved and introduce their dogs to this fast paced relay sport. For dogs over 6 months. For more info contact: stack.attack@live.com

Agility, obedience, and flyball are one hour in length and run for eight weeks. Pre-registration is required for all classes.  Dates/times are listed above.  Fees and how to register are listed below.

Conformation classes run on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.  Fees for Conformation will be $4.00/half hour per time attended and no pre-registration is required.  Cards for ten 1/2 hour sessions will be available for $35.00.  No registration is needed, but current rabies information (for any dog that is over 6 months of age) must be provided at the first session attended.

How to Register:

Training Class Fees:

1.  Read Welcome to Key City Kennel Club Dog Training!, the class rules document.

2.  Read the document on training collars.

3.  Locate the class you plan to attend on the schedule of classes.

4.  Print and fill out an application: .pdf application or open, fill out, and print the  Word 2007 application.

5.  Make a copy of your dog's rabies certificate (Required only for dogs that are 6 months or older.)  Invoice from vet visit does not suffice.

6.  Mail the application, copy of rabies certificate if your dog is over 6 months of age, and a check made out to KCKC for the appropriate fee to:

7.  An acknowledgement of your application will be sent to the e-mail address you list on the application.  Please make certain your account will accept mail from keycitykennelclub@hotmail.com
